 New gTLDs / TMCH
 ICANN extends the gTLD namespace
ICANN
The New Generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) program has added hundreds of new domain extensions to the Internet over the course of the last years. ICANN, the organization who coordinates gTLDs, has received a total of 1,930 applications from organizations interested in managing their own gTLD. Numerous of these have already entered the General Availability (GA) period and are available to the general public.
These new strings range from geoTLDs such as .london, .berlin or .nyc, over generic terms with a broad audience such as .online or .web, to those targeting more specific uses or communities such as .bike, .gmbh or .wiki. While most of those gTLDs will be sold to the general public just like .com, also several hundred organizations have applied to use their brand name as a private gTLD only within their organizations or by the customers or members who use their services.
New gTLD General Availability launch dates
Below you'll find a list of some of the extensions that will be entering General Availability in the next few weeks. Note that all dates marked with a * are estimated dates and are still subject to change.
Note: Launch dates, if not given as an exact date, are unofficial estimates to the best of our knowledge and are subject to change.
Sunrise types include Auction, where the Sunrise phase typically is a 60 day period, or First Come, First Served (FCFS), with a typical 30 day period. In an Auction Sunrise, domains are allocated at the end of the Sunrise Period. In a FCFS Sunrise, domains are allocated at the time of a successful registration request.
